Alex Kendrick Career

Film career

Kendrick began to change the image of movies in mainstream America after reading a report that found that movies had become more influential than churches. In all four films Sherwood Pictures has produced, he co-wrote (with brother Stephen Kendrick), directed, and appeared. Facing the Giants, their second film, grossed over $10 million at the box office. In 2007, the football movie became the most well-selling Christian DVD ever. Fireproof, his third film, earned $33.5 million, making it the highest-grossing independent film of 2008. The project went on to win Best Feature at the 2009 San Antonio Independent Film Festival, as well as the Epiphany Award at the Los Angeles Film Guide Awards. In September 2011, Sherwood Pictures, Courageous, a TriStar film, was released in theaters and grossed $34.5 million. At the 2012 San Antonio Independent Film Festival and the Epiphany Prize were also named for the film. Courageous was also the first winner of the K-Love Movie Impact Award (which was also awarded in 2013) and the first winner of the first Dove Award for Movie of the Year (also presented in 2013). Kendrick appeared in both The Lost Medallion in 2013 and the 2014 film Moms' Night Out.

On August 28, 2015, the Kendrick brothers' fifth film, War Room, was released in theaters around the country. It focuses on the pivotal role that prayer can play in an individual's life. Priscilla Shirer, the best-selling author and Bible tutor in the New York Times, appears in her film debut, as well as T.C. Stallings, Alex Kendrick, comedian Michael Jr., and Karen Abercrombie. In her first acting role, it introduces newcomer Alena Pitts as Danielle, as well as a cameo by renowned Bible scholar and author Beth Moore. Provident Films and AFFIRM Films collaborated with the Kendrick brothers to bring the film to theaters. Sony Pictures handled the distribution once more.

"One gets the impression this is their ministry, while still being aware of the No. The first story must come first, according to 1 rule of cinematic storytelling: the tale must come first. In a Baptist Press interview on the Kendricks, movie critic Michael Foust said: "They've been the Lewis and Clark of the genre." No, they weren't the first to make faith movies, but they did it better than anyone who came before — and Hollywood noticed. They were trailblazers who made first-class films on shoestring budgets." "The Kendricks have continued to improve on their craft," Foust said. The War Room was better than Courageous, which was more effective than Fireproof, and it was quicker than Facing the Giants, which was quicker than Flywheel. Remember that the War Room was the No. 1. In its second weekend in 2015, the box office hosted 1 film at the box office. That's an achievement that many well-known Hollywood directors haven't achieved. The Kendricks have also been models of humility, always giving all praise to God while still striving to help raise the next generation of filmmakers."

Book career

Kendrick has co-written five books from his films, the first four of which were bestsellers, in addition to filmmaking. Stephen Wilson, Stephen, and novelist Eric Wilson wrote the first three books together. Randy Alcorn's fourth book, Courageous, was written. Chris Fabry wrote the fifth book for the film War Room. The Love Dare made the New York Times. Newspaper Advice and Misc. For 131 weeks, we were on the top of the charts, with two of them reaching number one. Over 6 million copies have been sold, including the Love Dare. Courageous's book The Resolution for Men, written with Stephen, was included on The New York Times Best Seller list in October 2011. In 2013, the brothers published The Love Dare for Parents, which later became a CBA Best Seller. Kendrick's most recent book, The Battle Plan for Prayer, coauthored with his brother, made the New York Times Best Seller List for the second time in 2015.
