Alex Iwobi Career

Club career

Iwobi joined Arsenal in 2004 while attending primary school and was almost released by the club at the age of 14 and then again at the age of 16.

In a League Cup match against West Bromwich Albion on September 25, 2013, he was first involved in a first-team match as an unplanned replacement. In October 2015, he agreed to a long-term deal with Arsenal.

Iwobi made his first-team debut for the club on October 27, 2015, losing 3–0 to Sheffield Wednesday in the League Cup's Round of 16. He made his Premier League debut four days later against Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium as a stoppage time substitute for Mesut zil. In a 5–1 loss to Bayern Munich, Iwobi made his Champions League debut as an 85th minute substitute. Iwobi was in the first team for the 2015–16 FA Cup 3rd and 4th round home victories over Sunderland and Burnley respectively.

Iwobi got off to a winning streak in games against Everton and Watford, respectively, after getting off to a 3–1 away loss to Barcelona.

After Alexis Sánchez took number 7 from the departing Tomá Rosick, Iwobi's squad number changed from 45 to 17. He went on to play in Arsenal's illustrious FA Cup campaign, winning 21-0 against Chelsea in the final, extending his winning streak to 2016-17. In the 2017 Community Shield, Arsenal won more money with Arsenal, where Chelsea defeated Chelsea on penalties.

A video of Iwobi at a late-night party 36 hours before a match was revealed in January 2018. Iwobi characterized him as a "inspiration" and said it was sad but exciting in May 2018, after Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger revealed that he would be leaving the club.

According to reports, he signed a new long-term deal with the club in August 2018.

Iwobi was the object of suspected bigotry by Indian actress Esha Gupta, an Arsenal ambassador, in January 2019.

In a 4–1 loss to Chelsea, he scored Arsenal's only goal in the 2019 UEFA Europa League Final in May 2019.

In July 2019, he said he was looking forward to returning to club football with Arsenal following the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

Iwobi signed a five-year deal with Everton on August 8, 2019. Arsenal paid a £28 million fee upfront, rising to £34 million with prospective add-ons, according to the BBC.

Iwobi made his debut as a substitute in the final half-hour against Gylfi Sigursson in a 2–0 loss at Aston Villa, fifteen days after signing. In a 4–2 victory at Lincoln City on August 28, he scored his first Everton goal in the second round of the EFL Cup. In a 3–2 win over Wolverham Wanderers on September, he scored his first league goal, and he was one of two players praised by manager Marco Silva afterwards.

International career

Iwobi, a youth international for England or his home country Nigeria, was born in England, and he defeated England or Nigeria in 2011. Iwobi obtained 11 caps for England under the age of 18, but he went on to declare for Nigeria in 2015. In the 57th minute of a 2–0 friendly loss to DR Congo in Visé, Belgium, he made his senior debut for the Eagles on October 8th, replacing Ahmed Musa.

He was chosen by Nigeria for their 35-man provisional squad for the 2016 Summer Olympics. He did not make it to the 18-man final squad.

Due to injury, Iwobi dropped out of Nigeria's squad for the next month's World Cup qualifiers. In October 2017, Iwobi scored for Nigeria in a 1–0 victory over Zambia, guaranteeing the Super Eagles a spot in the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. He was selected in Nigeria's 23-man squad for the event and appeared in all three games as the Super Eagles were knocked out in the group stage.

He said in April 2019 that he wanted to imitate his uncle Jay-Jay Okocha by winning the Africa Cup of Nations. He was selected in Nigeria's squad for the 2019 tournament. He said he would reject the notion that Nigeria is a favorite at the tournament. After the tournament, he said he was looking forward to returning to club football with Arsenal.

In 2022, Iwobi was named in the Nigeria squad for the postponed 2021 Africa Cup of Nations. He was given a red card five minutes after coming on as a replacement in the knockout stage match against Tunisia, a match that Nigeria lost 0-1.

Marco Silva reveals he wanted to substitute MORE than the THREE Fulham players he hauled off after just 31 minutes of their 3-1 defeat at Nottingham Forest

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 2, 2024
Marco Silva has stated that if he had swapped more players during a frustrating first half against Nottingham Forest if he had, he would have slammed his team's poor start at the City Ground. Having witnessed his team suffer from a humiliating start to the game, the Fulham manager went to his bench after only 30 minutes of their 3-1 loss. Calum Hudson-Odoi opened the scoring only nine minutes before Chris Wood doubled the advantage for Nuno Espirito Santo's side. Despite welcoming Willian, Adama Traore, and Tom Cairney - for Alex Iwobi, Harry Wilson, and Sasa Lukic - the visitors fell further behind at the time.

Fulham beats Fulham 3-1; magical Morgan Gibbs-White leads the hosts to victory in the first half as Nuno Espirito Santo's side is out of drop zone

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 2, 2024
NOTTINGHAM FOREST 3-1 FULHAM - JOE BERNSTEIN AT THE CITY GROUND: Nottingham Forest earned their biggest victory of the season on Tuesday, with Morgan Gibbs-White as the catalyst, noting the formula to climb from the bottom three. In a tumultuous first half for Forest that had been defeated 5-0 by Fulham earlier this season, Gibbs-White assisted and scored. Forest made a joke of their recent run of one victory in 13 games in all competitions, even though their opponents had scored ten goals in four games, starting the evening out of the relegation zone solely on goal difference.

As the Nottingham Forest striker looks to continue his scoring spree against Fulham, Chris Wood will score anytime against Fulham at 11/8

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 2, 2024
In both of Nottingham Forest's previous two matches against Crystal Palace and Luton, Chris Wood has been in fine scoring form of late, finding the back of the net in both of their previous two games against Crystal Palace and Luton. In 23 Premier League appearances this season, the 32-year-old has scored ten times, and Forest will be looking to their leading goalscorer to help them beat Tottenham, Brighton, and Man United beat them in their last five games. Chris Wood will score anywhere during the game, and Sky Bet is paying 4/1 on the New Zealand striker to finish first.
