She is best known for her roles in the film To Rome with Love and the television series Master of None the latter for which she garnered a nomination for the Critics' Choice Television Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series in 2017.

Early life and career

Alessandra was born in Naples, Italy, to a father from Agnone and a mother from Naples, but she was brought up in Rome at the age of five. She studied classical Lyceum and then the Sapienza University of Rome, where she concentrated on performing arts. She had previously attended a psychology course at the same university.

She made her debut as an actress in 1997 in Un prete tra noi, directed by Paolo Poeti, Lui e lei 2 (1999), and Il grande Torino, directed by Claudio Bonivento, where she depicts Rosa Di Girolamo's character. She appeared in various films including Il manoscritto di Van Hecken (1999) and The Beast in the Heart (2004); moreover, two short scenes from Marco Costa's Cose che si dicono al buio (1999) and Due sigarette were shot in (2004).

Mastronardi gained more fame in Italy as she became a regular cast member of the Italian version of Los Serrano, I Cesaroni, in which she plays Eva Cudicini, a young shy and romantic girl. In the music video Stai bene come stai, performed by Le Mani's Italian musical group Le Mani, she was the main protagonist, alongside Matteo Branciamore.

On January 16, 2007, she made her theater debut in the comedy The Prozac Family, directed by Marco Costa. Margherita portrayed her character, but Eros Galbiati played her fiancé Mamo, who became famous in Italy in 2006 thanks to the film Notte prima degli esami. Lorenzo Cicconi Massi's film Prova a volare was released on August 24, 2007. Gloria played Gloria with Riccardo Scamarcio, portraying her as Gloria. In February 2008, she returned to television for the second season of I Cesaroni, which was also directed by Francesco Vicario. In the meantime, she appeared in the miniseries Romanzo criminale, a Stefano Sollima version of the 2005 film Romanzo criminale.

The third season of I Cesaroni began in January, 2009. Alessandra appeared in the TV film Non smettere di sognare, in which she appeared in the role of a young dancer named Stella. In the 2012 Woody Allen film To Rome with Love, Mastronardi played Milly, a young bride and astronomy tutor.

In Season 2 of Netflix's Master of None, she appeared as the character of Francesca.

Lucrezia Donati appeared in the Netflix show Medici: Masters of Florence in 2019.

She appeared in the Lionsgate film The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent with Nicolas Cage in 2022.
