Early life
Born Alana Kaye Collins in San Diego, she grew up in Nacogdoches, Texas, and Houston before heading to New York to become a model. She said she was born in poverty. Collins, a Ford Models endorsed, travelled to Los Angeles for several television and commercial appearances.
Personal life
In 1972, she married actor George Hamilton. Ashley Hamilton, their son, had one child, Ashley Hamilton. In 1975, the couple divorced.
She married singer Rod Stewart in 1979. Kimberly and Sean were both married, as well as a son, Sean. In 1984, Alana and Rod Stewart divorced, but she kept his surname.
Stewart discovered she had the Epstein-Barr virus in the early 1990s after suffering from symptoms caused by the virus for two decades. She began speaking out about her illness in 1994 and revealed that she had removed her breast implants because she felt they contributed to her illness.
