Aimie Atkinson Career

Career

Atkinson was told that she could only register for the amateur competition after agreeing with a friend whilst attending the Arts Educational School. She won that and then moved to a final competition against the remaining professional contestants - those with at least five years of stage experience - and also won this.

Atkinson, 19, joined Arts Educational and became a full-time stage actress in Howard Goodall's Days of Hope at the King's Head Theatre. She then took on various parts before embarking on a rigorous program in musical theatre at the Royal Academy of Music. However, she left the academy after two months to attend Zorro's touring production, portraying Luisa. The producer of the show then compelled Atkinson to audition for Daniela's role in the musical In The Heights, which she performed at the King's Cross Theatre later in life as a sassy 40-year-old actress. She has since appeared in Aladdin as Princess Jasmine, Serena in Legally Blonde, and Snow White opposite Jerry Hall at Richmond Theatre. Katherine Howard has also appeared in the role of Katherine Howard in the West End production of Six.

Atkinson began playing Vivian Ward in the West End production of Pretty Woman: The Musical, alongside Danny Mac at the Piccadilly Theatre on February 13, 2020. The show later opened on March 2nd, 2020, but it was later closed just two weeks later due to the COVID-19 pandemic. On July 8, 2021, Atkinson appeared at the Savoy Theatre for its reopening.

In 2017, Atkinson's debut studio album Step Inside of Love was released on Jay Records. She appeared in Eurovision: You Decide 2018 as a member of Goldstone's youth group. "I Feel The Love" was her debut in Eurovision.

Atkinson's recordings include:

Atkinson formed SVN, five other members of the Original West End cast of Six, Millie O'Connell, Natalie May Paris, Alexia McIntosh, Jarnéia Jarnéia Jarné, and Maiya Quansah-Breed, with six others, with the seventh member being Grace Mouat from Max Martin's musical & Juliet's cast members. The company released a number of singles such as "Woman" and "Free" in 2022.

Atkinson released the single "Pretty Woman," a modern reimagining of Roy Orbison's Pretty Woman, on June 18, 2021.
