Aimee Carrero (born July 15, 1988) is an American actress.

and voice actress She is most known for voicing the titular character She-Ra in the Netflix animated series She-Ra and the Princesses of Power.

From 2014 to 2018, she starred as Sofia Rodriguez on the Freeform sitcom Young & Hungry.

She also provides the voice of Princess Elena on the Disney Channel animated series Elena of Avalor, and played the role of Angie on the Cartoon Network live-action series Level Up.

Early life and education

Carrero was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic to a Dominican mother and a Puerto Rican father but grew up in Miami, Florida. She is an alumna of Florida International University graduating in 2008 with a degree in international relations.

In November 2015, she became engaged to actor Tim Rock. They were married in August 2016.

She appeared in the film Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel in 2009. Carrero's television credits include The Mentalist, Lincoln Heights, Men of a Certain Age, The Middle, Greek, Zeke, and Luther. She appeared in the Cartoon Network live action film Level Up in 2011. She appeared in the subsequent television series of the same name. After two seasons, the series came to an end in 2013.

Carrero appeared in the Lifetime television film Blue Lagoon: The Awakening in 2012. What Rhymes with America debuted on Broadway in December 2012, she made her Off-Broadway debut in Atlantic Theater Company's world premiere play, What Rhymes with America. She co-starred in Devil's Due, a horror film released in 2014. Carrero appeared in the second season of FX's As Lucia, a Sandinista liberation fighter, and she was also a regular participant. Emily Osment appeared on ABC Family sitcom Young & Hungry.

Carrero would be starring Elena, Disney's first Latina fairy tale princess for the Disney Channel series Elena of Avalor, in January 2015. The series, which is a spin-off of the Disney Junior series Sofia the First, premiered on July 22, 2016. Carrero and her character Sofia will co-star Ashley Tisdale in a Young & Hungry spinoff series entitled Young & Sofia, which was announced in April 2016. However, the scheme did not progress beyond the backdoor pilot phase.

Carrero appeared in She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, a Netflix animated series reboot that she was portrayed as Adora. Carrero appeared in the true play limited series Exandria Unlimited, a spinoff of the web series Critical Role, from June to August 2021. In March 2022, she reprised her role in Exandria Unlimited: Kym.

Carerro's role in the drama series Maid: Hard Work, Low Pay, and a Mother's Will to Survive premiered on Netflix on October 1, 2021. Margaret Qualley's character makes her a survivor of domestic violence who becomes friends with Alex, Margaret Qualley's character, at the women's shelter. Fans and observers of the series praised Danielle as a "more mature character" and "another young mother at the domestic violence shelter who "actually gets Alex back to her feet," but said that her story was never complete, and the audience is left wondering what happened to her.

In addition to being co-starring Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell in Spirited, she will be cast in Mark Mylod's The Menu later this year.
