Adriano Celentano (Italian: [adria ta no]; born 6 January 1938) is an Italian musician, singer, guitarist, actor, and filmmaker. Because of his dancing, he is nicknamed "il Molleggiato" (the flexible one).

Celentano has released many record albums that have received a lot of attention both commercial and critical success.

He is often credited as the author of both the music and lyrics of his songs, but, according to Claudia Mori, they were often written in collaboration with others. He is regarded as one of Italy's top tenors due to his prolific career and worldwide success, both in Italy and the rest of the world.

Celentano is also known for being particularly aware of shifts in the music industry. He is credited with bringing rock and roll to Italy, a trend that attracted huge audiences among young people at the time. Celentano, an actor, has appeared in 39 films, the majority comedies.

Early life

Celentano was born in Milan at 14 years old Via Cristoforo Gluck, and this address later became the subject of the famous "Il ragazzo della via Gluck" ("The boy from Gluck Street"). His parents, who lived in Foggia, Apulia, had come from Foggia, and had gone north for work. He began his career as a singer in 1959. He was working as a watchmaker before his debut as an artist.

Celentano, who was heavily influenced by Elvis Presley and the 1950s rock 'n' roll scene, as well as American actor Jerry Lewis, has formed Celentano, a rock and roll band formed with Giorgio Gaber and Enzo Jannacci. Gaber and Jannacci were discovered by Jolly Records A&R Executive Ezio Leoni, who subsequently signed him to his first recording contract and co-authored with Celentano "Il Tuo Bacio e' Come Un Rock" and "Si e' Spento il Sole" among his best early hits, including "24.000 Baci" and "Si e' Spento il Sole." He first appeared on film in Ragazzi del Juke-Box, a 1959 Italian musical film directed by Lucio Fulci with music by Ezio Leoni. Federico Fellini's film La Dolce Vita cast him as a rock and roll singer in 1960.

Celentano founded Clan Celentano in 1962, which is still on display in Italy, with many artists including Don Backy, Ola & the Janglers, Ricky Gianco, Katty Line, Gino Santercole, Fred Bongusto, and his wife Claudia Mori.

Celentano regularly cast Ornella Muti, Eleonora Giorgi, and his partner Claudia Mori. Rosita, Giacomo, and Rosalinda Celentano, Mori's three children, are his sons. In Mel Gibson's The Passion of the Christ, Rosalinda is the most well-known to worldwide audiences for her role as Satan. Celentano has also hosted several Italian television shows.

Celentano has enjoyed his fame in Italy for more than 50 years, selling millions of albums and appearing in numerous television shows and movies. He created a comedic style as part of his television and film careers, with a characteristic walk and facial expressions. For the most part, his films were commercially lucrative; in fact, in the 1970s and a portion of the 1980s, his low-budget films were top of Italian box office charts. He has released 40 albums, including 29 studio albums, three live albums, and eight compilations. "La coppia del mondo" (1968), one of Paolo Conte's most popular songs, and "Prisencolinescensinciusol" (1972), which was written to resemble the way English sounds to non-English speakers, despite being almost entirely nonsense, were among his most popular songs; "Svaluation" (1976); and "Svaluation" (1976).

Celentano appeared in "Reasons to be Cheerful, Part 3," by Ian Dury and the Blockheads as one of the old "reasons to be cheerful" in Fellini's 1986 film Ginger and Fred.

Celentano's 2012 live concert on Mediaset channel Canale 5 attracted over 9 million viewers after 18 years without live performances.
