Adolfo Celi Life

Adolfo Celi, 27th July 1922 – 19 February 1986), an Italian film actor and producer, was born in 1922.

Celi, born in Curcurca, Messina, Sicily, was featured in over 100 films, specializing in international villains.

Despite being a well-known actor in Italian cinema and well-known for several roles, Emilio Largo's appearance in the 1965 James Bond film Thunderball is his most well-known worldwide.

Celi later spoofed his Thunderball appearance in the film OK Connery (also Operation Double 007) starring Sean Connery's brother, Neil Connery.

Personal life and death

Celi was married three times. In 1986, he died as a result of a heart attack in Siena. Alessandra Celi, his son, is a comedian.

Life and career

In post-war Italy, Celi became a film actor. He left the Italian film industry when he moved to Brazil, where he co-founded Teatro Brasileiro de Comédia with Brazilian stage legends Paulo Autran and Tônia Carrero. Sônia Carrero was a hit as a stage actor in Argentina and Brazil. In the 1950s, he directed three films in South America, including the Brazilian hit Tico-Tico no Fubá in 1952.

Celi started his career as a villain in Philippe de Broca's That Man from Rio, which was picked by de Broca on a Rio de Janeiro location. In the 1965 Second World War escape drama Von Ryan's Express, the success of the film led him to him being cast as camp commandant Battaglia opposite Frank Sinatra and Trevor Howard's Allied POWs. He went on to play Largo in Thunderball, his most well-known role. Ralph Valmont, one of the villains in the Mario Bava action thriller Don Vito Tressoldi, is also known to foreign audiences as Don Vito Tressoldi, and the celebrated Fernando Di Leo's poliziottesco film Hired to Kill (La mala ordina, 1972).

Celi appeared in several Italian comedies, including Amici Miei and Brancaleone alle Crociate (1972), depicting the legendary Italian-American cop and the ruthless aristocrat, the Baron of Carini in another well-known mini-series, La Baronessa di Carini (1975), as the ruthless aristocrat and the Baron of Carini.

Celi was fluent in several languages, including English, Spanish, French, German, and Portuguese, in addition to his native languages Sicilian and Italian. Despite his English proficiency and his thick Sicilian accent, he was usually dismissed when he appeared in English language films; however, Celi was not dubbed in the 1981 BBC series The Borgias, in which Celi played Rodrigo Borgia, but it was not for certain TV critics and viewers to comprehend, due to his thickly-accented English; however, he was not dubbed; however, he was not dubbed in the
