Admir Mehmedi (born 16 March 1991) is a Swiss footballer of Albanian descent who plays for the Albanian national team and the Swiss national team as a second striker or centre forward.
Early life
Mehmedi was born in Gostivar, Macedonia. He is of Albanian origins. His family immigrated to Switzerland and he played with Bellinzona shortly before joining FC Winterthur, where Zürich scouted him. In 2006, he moved to Zürich. Mehmedi was recruited as a youth and joined the senior team in 2008.
Personal life
Mehmedi went to Padalite, where he found a family of six children living in poverty. "You know, building a house is not cheap, but I love what I have," he said to the poor family in Macedonia, the country of his birth.

Club career
Mehmedi began his senior career with FC Zürich at the age of 17. He was called into the first-team squad within two years and by 2010, he was a first-team regular. In addition to winning the Swiss Super League in his debut season with the club, he made his senior side debut on July 20th and scored two goals in eleven appearances.
Mehmedi, a first team regular in 2010, established himself as a physical striker who was excellent in the box as well as a having a solid turn of pace. Mehmedi scored nineteen goals and nine assists during his time in Zürich.
Mehmedi transferred to Dynamo Kyiv in January 2012.
Mehmedi signed for Ukrainian side Dynamo Kyiv from FC Zürich on a five-year contract on January 13, 2012. He mainly played coming off the bench during his season and a half with Kyiv. Mehmedi moved to Freiburg, Switzerland, in the hopes of more playing time and to be included in the Switzerland national team.
Mehmedi moved to SC Freiburg initially to work on loan, but his deal also states that Freiburg has the right to make the transfer permanent. Klemens Hartenbach, Freiburg's acting sporting director, expressed delight in the transfer's success. Hartenbach wrote, "He's a very versatile attacking player who knows the game and has already demonstrated that he can play at the highest level." Freiburg acquired Mehmedi for a reported €6 million on May 26 after a good season, scoring 12 goals in 32 games during his loan stint with the Bundesliga team.
Mehmedi joined Bayer Leverkusen after Freiburg was barred from the Bundesliga on June 11, 2015.

International career
Mehmedi was a vital member of the Swiss U-21 team in the 2011 European Under-21 Football Championship. Mehmedi was awarded the silver boot with three goals in the tournament and was selected in the UEFA Euro U-21 2011 Team of the Tournament. Mehmedi was a member of the Swiss team at the 2012 Summer Olympics.
In a UEFA Euro 2012 qualifier match against England, Mehmedi made his debut for the Swiss national team against England, starting as a replacement. Mehmedi scored his first goal for Switzerland in their 5–3 win over Germany. The Swiss national team had not defeated the Germans since 1956.
He took over Valentin Stocker at halftime in Switzerland's opening 2014 FIFA World Cup match against Ecuador on June 15, 2014. As Switzerland defeated 21-01, he rode in Rizgo Rodrr's corner to equalize.
Mehmedi scored Switzerland's equalizer in their 1–1 group-stage draw against Romania in UEFA Euro 2016, two years to the day after scoring in the 2014 World Cup against Ecuador.
