Aden Flint Career

Club career

Flint began his football career with Pinxton before moving to the Conference North in 2008, when he joined Alfreton Town. Flint, Alfreton, was employed on part of tarmacking roads at the time.

Flint spent three months of his debut season with Alfreton's Premier League Premier Division affiliate Matlock Town. Flint was unable to participate in many games due to the cold weather, but he did score in the 5–0 victory over Leigh Genesis in January 2009. Flint drew 1-1 draw against Ilkeston Town in the 1–1 draw and scored an own goal in the 2–0 loss at Whitby Town earlier this month. Flint was one of three players to leave the team following his loan termination, according to Matlock boss Mark Atkins on February 26, 2009.

Flint spent the remainder of his Alfon career with the assistance of a youth team in the Conference North play-off final in 2009–10, where the club lost 2–1 to Fleetwood Town. According to Alfreton chairman Wayne Bradley, he impressed many visiting scouts with bids being turned down from Derby County, Luton Town, and ten other clubs.

John Ward, the current Colchester United boss, announced in January 2011 that his team had been in negotiations with Flint over a transfer to the Essex club. Ward also announced that Flint would travel to Wiltshire later this day to discuss a potential merger with Swindon Town with Danny Wilson.

Swindon Town announced the signing of Flint on a 2+1–year deal, but the number 16 shirt had been dated and had been issued since the departure of on-loan Manchester City forward David Ball's departure.

Flint played in the 1–1 draw with Rochdale and was involved in the ensuing match against Orient, which resulted in a 3–0 loss for the Wiltshire club.

Flint returned to Alfton Town on a loan until the 2010-11 season. Paul Hart, the new Swindon manager, was impressed by Flint's attitude in preparation but had to select more experienced players such as Andy Frampton. Flint was promoted from the Conference North after rejoining Alfreton.

Flint scored his first goal against Crewe Alexandra on August 6, 2011. In Town's 2011-2012 championship winning season, he was a consistent performer. In a 3–0 victory over Stevenage at the County Ground on April 20, Flint scored twice. Swindon was awarded a spot in the 2012-2013 League One play-off after winning.

Flint signed for Bristol City on June 11, 2013 for a £300,000. Alfreton Town's previous club charged 20% of the fee (£60,000) due to a sell on clause. In a 2–2 draw against Bradford City at Ashton Gate on August 3, he made his debut on August 3rd. In a 3–2 loss to former club Swindon Town, he scored his first goal for the club on September 21. In a 1–1 draw against Oldham Athletic on Sunday, he scored his second goal for the club. In a 3–1 victory over Leyton Orient three days later, he scored again in the following game three days later.

Flint briefly started a rivalry with fans of his former team Swindon, despite his assertion that he did not wish for them to advance to promotion.

In an 8–2 victory over Walsall on May 3, 2015, the hat-trick in City's last game of the 2014-15 season (during which City won the league) was his first hat-trick, taking his total number for the season to 15.

In 2015–16, Aden Flint was named Player of the Year for Bristol City's narrowly avoiding relegation back to League One.

With victories over Premier League opponents Watford FC, Stoke City, Crystal Palace F.C., Flint participated in every game as Bristol City advanced to the semi finals of the 2017-18 EFL Cup. Manchester United is located in Manchester, the United Kingdom. Flint suffered humiliatingly in their semi-final loss to Premier League leaders Manchester City.

Flint joined Middlesbrough in an undisclosed fee expected to be in the region of £7 million, according to the team's four-year deal.

Flint joined Cardiff City on a three-year deal on July 19, 2019 He made his debut in a 3–2 loss to Wigan Athletic on the first day of the 2019-20 season. In his second appearance for the club, he scored his first goal, scoring the first goal in a 2–1 victory over Luton Town.

Flint returned to Cardiff in January 2021 and became a key figure on the team under new boss Mick McCarthy. Following his return to Swansea City in a 1–0 victory, he scored his first goal, earning him cult status among City fans.

Flint started the 2021–22 season on fine form by scoring a late brace in an away match against newly promoted Peterborough United to salvage a 2–2 draw for the Bluebirds. Flint doubled his tally a week later, grabbing another brace against Millwall in a 3–1 home win over Millwall. This put him at the top of the Championship's goalscoring charts for a brief period. Flint revealed on social media that he would be leaving the club on a free transfer at the end of the 2021–22 season. When his deal came to an end on June 30th, Cardiff announced that Flint would leave the club on June tenth.

Flint joined Sheffield Wednesday on a season-long loan on October 16, 2020. He made his debut the day after, beginning in Birmingham City and helping to keep a clean sheet. Flint will suffer a hamstring injury during the game against Rotherham United that will require surgery, effectively leaving him out for at least a week. He would not play for Sheffield Wednesday again if his loan term was cut short on January 4, 2021.

Flint joined Stoke City on a one-year deal on June 15, 2022.

International career

When Paul Fairclough named him among his 16-man England C squad for the friendly against Wales' national semi-professional football team, Flint's form at Alfreton Town during the 2010-11 season earned him his first international call-up. In the 2–2 draw at Latham Park in Newtown, Wales, he was in the first 45 minutes.

Flint was capped for his second and final appearance in October 2010 at the Kadriorg Stadium, Tallinn, over a 1–0 victory over an Estonia U-23's in the International Challenge Trophy.

Flint was ineligible for selection for the England C squad when he signed for Swindon Town in January 2011 but was unable to make the final squad for the International Challenge Trophy.
