Two Just Stop Oil demonstrators who scaled a bridge over the Dartford Crossing, causing more than a day of gridlock, have been jailed in prison. During their climate protest on October 17, Morgan Trowland, 40, and Marcus Decker, 36, blocked one of the country's busiest stretches of road for 40 hours. The pair hung a banner between two pillars of the Queen Elizabeth II Bridge, which links the M25 in Essex and Kent, and slept in hammocks in freezing temperatures overnight. After arriving down the following day, police were initially arrested because of safety concerns, which resulted in traffic chaos. After being found guilty of causing a public nuisance, Trowland and Decker were sentenced to three years, two years, and seven months today.

A barrister who successfully represented a group of climate campaigners who scaled a bridge has said he was proud to have performed his public service during his appeal. Adam King's remarks came after a group of more than 120 leading lawyers announced that they did not sue "peaceful" climate activists. Morgan Trowland, 40, and Marcus Decker, 34, were found guilty of causing a public nuisance after shuffleping up the bridge's cables on the Dartford Crossing.
