After a meeting: "I'll dump the b***h," the police and fire chief resigned after being fired because of vile jibes at a female colleague

After it emerged that he had told a meeting: "I'll dump the bitch" when debating a female colleague, a beleaguered police and fire chief eventually decided to resign last night. Stephen Mold, the police, fire, and crime commissioner for Northamptonshire, came under fire for making the'misogynistic' remark made when asked what he'd do if his new fire chief Nikki Watson was found guilty of misconduct. Mold was already under pressure over the appointment of Ms Watson's predecessor, his 'close friend,' Nicci Marzec. Following the remarks, his office initially said he had attended a "reflective meeting" to ensure he fully comprehends the meaning of the words he used and the need to remain calm under pressure.
