Adam Baldwin (born February 27, 1962) is an American actor and voice actor.

He appeared in Full Metal Jacket (1987) as Animal Mother, as well as in the television series Firefly and its sequel film Serenity as Jayne Cobb.

Colonel John Casey in Chuck, and Mike Slattery in The Last Ship were among his roles.

Early life

Baldwin was born in Winnetka, Illinois, and attended New Trier Township High School East in Winnetka.

Personal life

Ami Julius, his husband, has three children.

He is a supporter of Ride 2 Recovery, a bike-riding group that was established to assist wounded veterans. He rode in the 2009 "Don't Mess With Texas Challenge" bicycle race.

After being sent a copy of David Horowitz's book Radical Son, he re-examined his liberal views. He now considers himself a "small government conservative libertarian" and has contributed to The Huffington Post.

Baldwin endorsed Ted Cruz for the 2016 United States presidential election via Twitter in late 2015.

Baldwin has been accused of originating the hashtag #GamerGate near the end of August 2014 by posting the hashtag on Twitter alongside a pair of videos that, as part of larger critiques, reiterated earlier accusations against Zo Quinn and Nathan Grayson. Later, he told a journalist that "leftists" were enforcing "political nonsense" on gamers.

Baldwin's involvement in the Gamergate scandal resulted in a petition attempting to discourage him from attending the Supanova Pop Culture Expo in 2015. Baldwin was allowed to attend the convention as a visitor by the convention's team.

Baldwin came to fame in a number of films since 1980, including Predator (1990), D.C. (1996), and Serenity (2005), in which he reprises his role as mercenary Jayne Cobb from the television series Firefly. (1989), Parts Donkey (1992), Predator (1990), Predator (1991).

He has written extensively for Radio Flyer (1992), From the Earth to the Moon (1996), The X-Files (Knowle Rohrer), The Cape, Men in Black (1998), The Poseidon Adventure, The Constructive X-Files (Knowle Rohrer), The Interior, NCIS, and the 2005 version of The Poseidon Adventure. In 2006, Chad Shelten appeared in ABC's Day Break as Chad Shelten.

In the 2008 film Drillbit Taylor, Baldwin parodied the Ricky Linderman character. He is also known for NBC's Chuck, in which he played John Casey, a hard-nosed Marine Colonel for the National Guard.

Baldwin was reunited with former Firefly castmate Nathan Fillion in season four of Castle. In the 21st episode of "Headhunters" which aired on April 16, 2012, he played Detective Ethan Slaughter. In season eight, episode six of "Cool Boys," he returned to Castle.

Baldwin received the Best Supporting Actor/Television award in 2006 for his role as Jayne Cobb in the television series Firefly.

In Superman: Doomsday, which is based on DC Comics' The Death of Superman, Baldwin is depicted as Superman. In addition, he appears in the massively multiplayer online game DC Universe Online.
