Hull City owner reveals why Liam Rosenior was sacked just FIVE MONTHS after signing a new three-year contract and despite finishing third for Manager of the Season award

www.dailymail.co.uk, May 8, 2024
Hull, who lost 1-0 away to relegation-threatened Plymouth on the final day, finished seventh overall in the Championship table, falling short of the play-off finish the club and owner had hoped for. Acun Ilicali (right) therefore took the decision to relieve Rosenior (left) of his duties, much to the dismay of a number of Hull fans who thought he had earned the trust following an impressive year-and-a-half at the club. The Turkish entrepreneur has now revealed the reason behind his decision, and pointed to the future rather than the past.

Liam Rosenior had a fanbase that adored him but Hull now risk going backwards after his sacking - and there is a fear players will follow him out of the door, writes KATHRYN BATTE

www.dailymail.co.uk, May 7, 2024
KATHRYN BATTE: The decision to sack Rosenior was met with widespread shock, but a number of Hull City fans had feared this may happen if the club failed to make the play-offs. After years of frustration and apathy under the previous ownership, all Hull supporters wanted was a manager and team that worked and played for the badge. Success was secondary. That is not how owners think, of course. But for the first time in a long time, the club felt stable under Rosenior. There was an unwavering connection between him and the fanbase. It now feels as though that progress has been ripped up and the club is back to square one.

Hull City's former £13 million Man United midfielder is one of two coveted signings alongside the legendary Uruguayan international

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 1, 2024
Acun Ilicali, the owner of Hull City, has revealed that a former Manchester United player is one of two players he would like to sign. In 2022, Ilicali's Acun Medya firm acquired Hull from Assem Allam. Hull is currently in ninth place in the Championship and six points adrift of the play-off positions, but they have two games against Norwich, who are currently in last place.
