Career

Elliott began teaching and performing in various sketch comedy shows at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre (UCB) in Los Angeles, California.

Elliott appeared on pilots' You've Reached the Elliotts and Chrissy: Plain & Simple, both sitcoms starring her father, Chris Elliott. She appeared with the Midnight Show sketch troupe when she was at UCBT. She has also appeared with her sister Bridey on occasion to perform comedy. Elliott had also appeared on King of the Hill and Minoriteam before joining the cast of SNL. "Jersey Floor" and "Studio 6-Bee," among other Late Night with Jimmy Fallon sketches, she has appeared on several Late Night with Jimmy Fallon sketches, including "Jersey Floor" and "Studio 6-Bee." Elliott made her film debut with a small role in No Strings Attached, and has since played supporting roles in the films High Road and Fun Size.

Elliott has appeared on television shows including 2 Broke Girls, How I Met Your Mother, Happy Endings, and Inside Amy Schumer since leaving SNL in 2012. She appeared on Bravo's Odd Mom Out from 2015 to 2017. On NBC, she appeared in Indebted, the Fran Drescher sitcom.

Elliott joined the cast of SNL midway through the 2008–2009 season (season 34), shortly after Amy Poehler's departure. She is the third generation of her family to be cast on SNL (the second to be hired as a cast member), and her stint on the program was longer than both her father and grandfather). Chris Elliott's father, who appeared on SNL from 1994-1995 (season 20) and her grandfather, Bob Elliott, was one half of the famous comedy pair Bob & Ray. Bob Elliott appeared on a Christmas episode in the 1978-1979 season (season 4).

Elliott was suspended from the show prior to its 38th season during its four seasons on SNL.
