Aaron Douglas Life

Aaron Douglas (born August 23, 1971) is a Canadian actor.

Galen Tyrol, a character on Sci Fi Channel's television show Battlestar Galactica, is his best known for his role as Galen Tyrol. He anchored The Bridge, a cable television drama that was also picked up by CBS for broadcast in the United States.

Douglas played Frank Leo, a charismatic police union leader who is simultaneously fighting criminals on the street and investigating misconduct within his own organization's ranks.

The thirteen episodes, which began production in May 2009, were cancelled after only three episodes were shown.

Douglas appeared in Killer Peak, a Syfy original film that premiered on August 27, 2011. He was joined by fellow Battlestar Galactica actor Paul Campbell.

Early life

Aaron Douglas was born in New Westminster, British Columbia, a suburb of Vancouver. Michael Douglas, his father, is a scientist, and his mother, Arlene Elliot, is a psychologist. Chris is his brother, who is four years old. The family lived in Vancouver until Douglas was ten years old, when they moved to Creston, British Columbia, where he attended Prince Charles Secondary School as an infant and appeared in school plays and was active in community theater. He resigned from his career and returned to Vancouver to pursue a career in acting at the age of 26. At VanArts, he spent time at the renowned William Davis Centre for Actors Study.

Douglas performed with the Okanagan Shakespeare Company in Canada after completing the course at VanArts. Many of his early acting jobs were due to his work as a "reader" for auditions. His job was to read the other half of the conversation for the individual auditioning for a role. The director would often say, "You know the cop role with three lines, do you want to do it?" says the actor. He started his resume off with those little details.

Personal life

Debbie Douglas died of breast cancer on November 1, 2004. Taylor, his son from a previous marriage, was born in 1996.

Douglas has a passion for hockey and has been skating since he was two years old. He plays hockey as an adult, but usually as a goalie. He is a devoted Vancouver Canucks fan and can often be seen in home games yelling at the referees, alongside colleagues and fellow Sci-Fi alums Daniel Bacon, Dan Payne, and Ryan Robbins. Wil Wheaton from Star Trek: The Next Generation is also a huge fan of the film. When Aaron first encountered him at a convention in 2008, he confessed to going "fangirl" on him. He is also a self-confessed fan of The Ricky Gervais Exhibition.
