Aamir Liaquat Hussain (born 5 July 1971) is a Pakistani television presenter and politician who has been a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan since August 2018.

He served as the Minister of State for Religious Affairs from 2002 to 2007 in Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz's federal cabinet from 2002 to 2007.

Early life and education

Educational qualifications

Hussain said he earned his Bachelor of Medicine (MBBS) degree from Liaquat Medical College Jamshoro in 1995 and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Islamic Studies in 2002 by a now-known degree mill, Trinity College and University (based in Spain but incorporated in Dover, Delaware). He has also stated that he obtained a Master of Arts in Islamic Studies from Trinity College and University in 2002.

The Higher Education Commission of Pakistan announced that Hussain's BA degree in Islamic Studies was not recognized and fake in 2006. The Guardian revealed this university as a fraud in 2003, where one could buy a degree for as little as £150 in 28 days. In 2005, the University of Karachi declared his BA degree as fake. When completing his nomination forms for the 2002 Pakistani general elections, Hussain revealed his Bachelor degree to the election commission of Pakistan. Hussain had obtained his degrees from Trinity College and University in order to run in the elections, according to the newspaper. Contestants of electoral elections for positions in Pakistan's Provincial and National Assemblies were required to have at least a bachelor's degree in 2002.

Hussain's assertion that he obtained an MBBS degree from Liaquat Medical College Jamshoro in 1995 was also falsified, despite the fact that he did not have one, he would not need any fake bachelors, masters, or doctorate degrees to run in the 2002 general elections. Since Hussain claimed to have both his MBBS degree and a BA in Islamic Studies from Trinity College in 1995, it was also stated that one cannot attend two separate faculties at the same time.

Hussain was named a candidate for a Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Karachi in 2012, where he graduated in 2008. He was later enrolled in Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science & Technology in 2010, where he earned his master's degree in Islamic Studies, but Hussain never attended a class or sat any exams, according to officials there, but they never attended a class or sat any exams. Hussain's admission form was initially sent with the photograph of another individual and was later replaced with Hussain's portrait. Hussain did not appear in the semester examinations, according to the newspaper.

Hussain obtained a fake degree from Ashwood University, according to a newspaper in 2015. In Axact's main server, his profile was found, according to the Federal Investigation Agency. Hussain confessed to buying the fake degree from Ashwood University for $1136.
