Founder Roy Wood left the band in 1972. The band went on hiatus from 1986 to 2000 and 2001 to 2012. The original lineup was enered into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2017.

Trivia

They did the soundtrack to the Olivia Newton-John led musical film Xanadu.
